Seven months into use this is still a great Desktop file. I just used it to handle logistics folders for a 200-person, two-day conference, and it worked well. In the past I've had to use 5" expandable "wallets" that were not stair-step/stadium style, making it very difficult to find some of the skinnier folders. They also had no handles making it difficult to transport them. With the On The Go Desktop File I didn't have either problem. I was able to see and quickly find all my folders and transporting it was a breeze.
The file has developed two problems: at full capacity the metal snaps do not stay snapped together when in the process of standing the file. That said, the problem may be use over and above what it was designed for, as I do the set-up/tear-down process at least four times a day. I solved the problem by using a large rubber band around the very bottom, just above the snaps and inside the folded-back area on each side. It gave just enough extra squeeze to the snaps that they stayed together until I could get the unit upright, while not interfering with the folders in any way.
The second problem is that when overstuffed the top handles do not meet to snap together. When not overfilled, the top handles meet fine and snap fine. Basically I need a version of this with a greater capacity and/or depth (this one is about 3", I may need 4")

The ingenious Pendaflex On The Go Desktop FIle is great! I bought this to make work papers easier to keep track of on my desk, as well as being something I could store in my desk drawer overnight. I was afraid it was going to be too big for my desk drawer, but it's turned out to be just fine. Just too tall to sit up in the drawer, it goes in nicely with the handle folded at an angle over other files. It doesn't jam my drawer from opening and I can pull it out quickly when I arrive at work, saving all the time I used to use pulling multiple folders, accordion wallets, etc. out of the drawer only to have them take up too much space on my desk. The Pendaflex OTG Desktop File stands up nicely, taking up much less space. When assembled in desktop fashion the first time it had a bit of rock to the file, but never fell over. The rock is slowly disappearing several days into use and now it sits solidly. The pockets looked small at first, but I've discovered they hold more than expected. One has six folders in it, another is holding my Pendaflex 51051 six-pocket project folder along with other folders. I had to re-arrange what was in which pocket a bit as the pockets are stair-step style, but in the end everything's in and functioning well. Fastening snaps are metal and feel secure when fastened. Haven't used the built-in pencil drawer yet, but will eventually. My kudos to those involved in the design and production of this product! Thank you for bringing it to us!

This portable desktop file is EXACTLY what I was looking for! It's both portable AND it stands up nicely on my desk. Plus, I just discovered that there is a little slide-out "drawer" (the triangular area beneath the "stadium steps") in which I can store a ruler, pencil, and pens. WAY COOL. I couldn't have designed it better. The snaps are super-duper strong, too.

This is such a handy file carrier. Light, sturdy, easy to carry, right numbers of "slots' and being able to snap together the base makes it so user friendly at your desk.
I am ordering additional ones for my employees.
